Virtual Learning Fridays
Parents and Guardians,
Due to ongoing safety concerns related to COVID-19, the Hawkins County School Board will extend the current schedule listed under the Yellow Phase of the operational plan for the remainder of the first semester. We will instruct students in class daily, Monday through Thursday, on regular schedules, while teaching students virtually every Friday. Fridays will continue to be focused on detail cleaning and disinfecting, with all rooms deep cleaned and prepared for the following week. This schedule will stay in place until the Christmas break, through December 18. In addition to cleaning and virtual instruction on Fridays, we will begin to bring in small, targeted groups of students who have been identified as needing assistance. These students have been identified through several assessments administered in late August and continuing through the first part of October. If your child needs to attend small group instruction on Fridays, you will receive notification directly from the school and transportation will be set up and provided. As students progress through these interventions, students will exit the Friday program and more students will rotate into the intervention groups. Please watch for more information.
Please understand that Friday attendance for the virtual instruction is monitored and is considered the same as classroom attendance. All work and participation within the provided instruction or activities will be monitored and included in your student’s attendance record. If your child is identified for in-class intervention, attendance will be mandatory, unless your child remains part of the eLearning program.
