❄️ DIY Frozen Bubbles 🫧✨
Yes, bubbles can survive winter — and they turn into something absolutely breathtaking.
Frozen Bubbles – Supplies You’ll Need:
• 1 cup very warm water
• 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
• 1 tablespoon food-grade glycerin
• ½ tablespoon corn syrup
• 5 tablespoons dish soap (gentle brands like Dawn work great)
• A jar with a lid
• Straws
• Measuring cups and spoons
⸻
How to Prepare the Solution:
1. Pour one cup of hot tap water into a jar.
2. Add powdered sugar and stir until completely dissolved.
3. Mix in the glycerin and corn syrup. Stir again until combined.
4. Add the dish soap last and gently mix (don’t shake — slow stirring helps keep the bubbles stronger).
5. Close the jar and place the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2–3 hours to chill.
When you’re ready, take the solution and straws outside. Dip the straw into the mixture and slowly blow bubbles onto a cold surface. For best results, avoid windy areas and choose a sheltered spot so the bubbles can freeze instead of popping too quickly.
Watching them crystallize is pure winter magic ✨🫧
I’ve been experimenting with frozen bubbles again, and watching them slowly crystallize on the snow feels like witnessing tiny frozen planets appear right before your eyes.
If you want to try this at home, a few tips help:
• Use a slightly thicker bubble solution
• Let your solution acclimate to outdoor temperature
• Blow slowly for stronger bubbles
• Allow your camera to adjust to the cold for better photos
Here’s what makes them so special:
🫧 When a bubble gently lands on fresh snow, it can stay intact longer than expected
🫧 Delicate frost patterns form naturally across the surface
🫧 Some pop and leave perfect rings behind
🫧 The smallest bubbles can even last overnight and sparkle in the morning light
